This was a no brainer. What is the SWAC waiting for?

I think they may be waiting on more of the FBS schools to cancel first as a lot of our schools have games (11) with them and it's better to let them cancel it over our schools doing it first.

The MEAC has 9 against FBS schools. Just seems like its inevitable considering the fact that SWAC country is especially being hit hard due to covid (and bad leadership) and none of our schools are equipped to handle the increased costs of playing during a pandemic. Also, I'm not feeling that "following the SEC" theory either. We are just in that other thread bashing the SEC schools for putting profits over people so now we are comfortable with following their lead?

More are waiting for them to follow the Big10/Pac12 lead and go to a conference only schedule and when that happens, it will pull the strings for the others to follow and let our schools off the hook with either a payoff or a reschedule of the game at a later date.

The “we“ you are referring are not the decision makers for the SWAC. These decisions are not made in a vacuum, there are many variables to be considered and in regards to the SEC, it possibly gives cover to the SWAC for any direction it decides to go. Whether it’s using research data or adoption of rules and governance on how to proceed safely!

The SWAC and SEC are somewhat tied at the hip, every state in which we operate so does the SEC. All those state agencies that govern health and wellness are in direct contact with those member institutions as they are with ours. They have additIonal resources in which they can deploy that can be valuable to our decision making. Any smart administrator would utilize this in making his/her decision. The more data the better... why rush to make a decision based off emotions.

What happens to non-conference football contracts if games are canceled?

COLUMBUS — The cancellation of the college football season won’t just result in massive revenue losses for athletic departments.
It could spark court cases across the country, pitting the sport’s blue bloods against relative lightweights, arguing the specifics of force majeure clauses in game contracts. At least that’s what one former high-ranking Power Five administrator and an attorney with experience in college athletics believe, telling The Blade that they think a litigation collision course is inevitable if the coronavirus pandemic wipes out nonconference games.

Somebody nudge Chuck and tell him to go ahead on a make the call to cancel the season. The Schools don't have the money for all the testing necessary for a team of 70+ players to go thru testing procedures. There's no need to add additional expense to our schools on a lost revenue year.

Due to the attendance restrictions, regardless if schools play fall sports they won't be able to cover cost so why risk the players safety. Safety of the players, coach and other staff necessary to host games FAR outweighs any revenue potential from playing.

Right move to make! Now the SWAC need to follow suite!

Why can't you play volleyball and soccer in a coronavirus environment?

Probably won't even consider due to both of these sports being a revenue draining sport with "Zero" money added to the overall Sports Department. Think about it, if you shut down you only possible revenue generating sport, why on earth would you play sports that bring in nothing at all?
