Meac/Swac Football Anouncement


According to WAFB TV in Baton Rouge, Dr. Mac expresssed concern that some programs didn't have the resources to test for covid-19 on a regular basis. If that is the case, then yes, we need to cancel the season for sure! No team is going to want to play against another team that is not testing on a consistent basis.

Southern athletic director Roman Banks says no decision on SWAC fall sports, despite reports

College football reporter Brett McMurphy reported Friday, July 17, that sources told him the SWAC will announce Monday that it is canceling fall sports.

Just got off a zoom meeting and Dr Ruth Simmons (PVAMU President) stated that a decision hasn't been made and their is a meeting next week to discus this further. She talked about game contracts and TV contracts were involved to make this decision. She also said that our band will not be traveling nor will they let any visiting band come to PV.
 

At this point there isn't enough time to do the proper conditioning for football, plus my niece's teenage son had COVID and he is an athletic kid but it had him down for a minute, just think if just 10-20 kids on one of our teams got it, that would be devastating. Idon't see how we can have a season
 
Now since the Swac has announce a spring football schedule, will the Meac do the same?

All FCS Conferences have cancelled fall football, will there be a possible spring football season for them using the Swac's model?

The SWAC was the guinea pig of sorts to step out there with a plan for Spring football (FCS and FBS). Now everyone else can use our model for their conferences with the necessary adjustments

The SWAC was the only conference I believe that always had spring football as an option compared to others who were hoping to play in the football
