Southern University is the sixth-highest producer of black people with undergraduate degrees in engineering in the United States, according to new report by a national education magazine.

The “Diverse Issues in Higher Educationâ€￾ magazine also found that when all of the education disciplines it surveyed are combined, Southern is the ninth-highest producer of African-Americans with bachelor degrees in the country.

In engineering, Southern ranked ahead of schools such as Florida A&M University, Howard University, Michigan State University, Jackson State University and LSU.

First off Congrats.

This was my point on this topic a couple of weeks ago.

AAMU was ranked 11th and I stated that I knew SU, FAMU, TNST and schools like that, which are bigger than us had to be ranked higher. This proves my point and brings back the topic of why do folks think the other side is greener if we (HBCU's) are producing these high number of grads? Black folk still wanna send their kids to these PWC's when we are leading. I saw yesterday that A&M has a 92% percent retention rate for our school of Food Science and Agriculture. That means 9 out of every 10 kids graduate. Man HBCU's are the best. With out HBCU's the black upper and middle class would not exist.

Congratulations SU. I know about Southern's great engineering and Law programs. It is great hearing good news about our HBCU's

When I was on the yard, A&T and PV were always number 1 and 2 when it came to engineering. A&T is still #1 but PV has dropped to #4. Morgan State came up out of nowhere. Does Georgia Tech have some sort of agreement with the AUC colleges?

Looks like nobody's gonna catch the University of Phoenix in degrees overall, LOL

Yes they have that dual degree program. My brother and several folks I know went in that program.

I have a cousin that wants to Major in Engineering but she is dead set on Ms State. I have tried to sell her on JSU or SU (It pains me to admit this).

Well, without going into details, it's because we are our own worst enemy. That's why. :smh:
