Julian Bond Chairman of The NAACP was in Dallas on Friday at Citigroup
For Black History Month The Associates African American Network Group (AAANG) was given some money for Black History Month to put on a function. This was an annual event for AAANG when the company was known as the Associates. When Citigroup learned that AANG had Julian Bond (Chairman of the NAACP) coming the to the function. The Citi folks in New York stepped in and took over the event as if the Citi has planned the entire event. Julian Bond spoke at the event Friday at 12 noon. The event was titled a diversity event not a Black History Event, but the company sent an email out instructing VP?s to distribute as appropriate.
Julian spoke on issues regarding the state of America concerning issues of racism, affirmative action(AA), the president?s agenda. One topic, affirmative action was insightful due to the fact that America talks about how non-qualified minorities (including white women) are guaranteed positions. White men do not talk about how AA was started to compensate for injustices of the past. The speech covered how white men said that non ?qualified minorities took positions from white men, but Julian enlightened the audience by informing us that AA had two percent of positions reserved. The accusers should look at the percent of white males that are admitted to colleges such as Harvard because they were the decedents of alumni and that the alumni?s SAT score are well below the alleged non-qualified minorities. Also less qualified white men were given great job position because their dads were CEO?s of companies or former President of the United States. The crowed erupted into a loud applauds. The speech covered other subject such as race relations and how whites public say that they believe that racism is dead in America.
