JPD investigates six homicides in 24 hours

Last year, Jackson had 128 murders, a rate higher than Memphis and New Orleans. Nationwide or not, Jackson is too small (population) to have the number of homicides it has. Blacks as a whole are too combative and confrontational. Thoughts, prayers and "putting it in God's hands" isn't going to decrease the murder rate in Jackson. Blacks must learn to respect one another. :(

Not gonna lie...Jackson is struggling. But, posting criticisms about Jackson on some forum isn't going fix anything. Maybe...turn your words into actions.

Barbara Ann Drive is the street my sister use to live on in S. Jackson. It use to be all white until blacks started moving in there. I had good memories on that street.

To make a post about Jackson and murders like Birmingham, baton rouge, new orleans, atlanta, memphis and chicago doesnt have major homicides is kind of stupid, homicides are homicides, the only difference is that those other cities have a lot more positives going in and tbey can balance the negative with other positive news, Jackson didnt invent homicides, and darn sure isnt the only city with record numbers, Jackson has a lot more poverty then a lot of the cities with high or higher homicide rates, solutions are needed all over, not just in Jackson.

Take baton Rouge, if LSU wasnt located in Baton Rouge, that city would be having a lot of the same problems with population decline as Jackson, the state and white folks are less likely to give up on Baton Rouge because LSUs main campus is there and the city gets funding also because LSU is there, less white flignt cause LSU is there, if Ole miss was location in Jackson you would see more fight for Jackson from white folk and more money invested in Jackson, find the lie!!!!

Post should have been titled what can we about these homicides in these black cities across america. Most of the homicides in Jackson are between people who know each other, some type of domestic issue, how can the mayor or police see behind walls and predict arguments and gun violence before it happen??

They can't. Yet because we are in the era of personal accountability being an option versus a requirement-someone has to take the blame.

How many of these warrants that police have to handle (and ends up with someone killed) are based on issues between folks who know each other?

There is no lie. If they see a MONEY HOLE-they are going to go after it. Redbird Mall in Dallas is NOT getting fixed up for black folks. White folks want the money that goes to shops and hotels outside of that area back in Dallas county. That is a huge area that does not have a movie theater (after having 3 in the 80s).

Skyvolt2000 and thats the issue here, no personal accountability or responsibility, its all the mayors fault and thr police fault, they gone keep recycling mayors and starting over every 4 years cause they are not addressing the real causes.

Well Said

Philly has over 200.

What's this supposed to mean? Jackson has been from near 50% to majority black for years.

Stuff that's happening in Jackson is going on in the delta as well. It just doesn't get the same media attention.
Means what I said. Yes, it is happening in other places. Clarksdale, Meridian, note any

The family of a recent Mississippi State graduate killed over the weekend in Jackson wants justice.

Police are still searching for the gunman who fired multiple shots at the house were Jertia Evans was struck. Her family believes she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"We want justice for my little sister. She didn’t deserve this," said Evans' sister, Ebbony Taylor Winfield.

Evans' life was cut short just as she was making big strides.

"She was a beautiful girl. She had just graduated from Mississippi State in fashion and design. She had big goals, she was driven, ambitious," Winfield said.

Her sister said even before graduating from MSU, the 23 year-old had her own business doing hair.

Police said Evans was shot early Saturday morning while she sat on the front porch at her grandmother’s house on Barbara Ann Drive.

I don't even go into the city in ATL anymore unless I have to. Folks getting randomly shot on the highway, the mall, all kinda nonsense. I just stay in the burbs and mind my business.

Please don't expect white people to do something that we should be doing.

Need more folks like this...

INC | Inside this Amazon scientist's $25 million plan to turn 12 abandoned acres in Jackson, Miss...

Her plan for the $25-million Jackson Tech District is a bold one for a place not known for its tech prowess. For Sephus, bringing investment to a community that's been left out is a big part of the appeal. "It's clear that people don't expect anything good to come from Jackson," she says. "So it's up to us to build something for our hometown, something for the people coming behind us."

https://www.wlbt.com/2021/01/29/proposed-bill-could-bring-riverboat-gambling-jackson/ This bill was introduced by a black legislator, to bring jobs to Jacksonians, tax revenue to pay police officers more and help fix more potholes, guess what happened, the white Republicans didnt even let the bill make it out of committee, so black folks are trying to do something, and when the state spend tax dollars to help other parts of Mississippi but not Jackson thats a problem to.

Not saying it's not a problem, but WE already know what these white politicians are doing and going to continue to do. That's the #1 reason to vote them out the positions. But until then, we should try to educate our own people to make our situation better.
