Whose version do you like the best? Marvin's or Gladys'?

I was listening to the radio and they played them both back to back. I think I like Marvin's version better.

The California Raisins :lmao:

Actually Marvins.....

They are so different that they have two completely different appeals. I had a long-time crush on Gladys as a kid, so it is very hard for me not to be biased in her direction. Marvin wrote it, so I guess I will have to give him the nod.

Although Marvin recorded it first, I actually got to hear Glady's version first and the mostest. If I had to chose, I guess I would give Marvin's a slight edge...his tempo better fits the lyrics of the song.

That's not to say that Gladys didn't do a helluva job with her uptempo version...cus sister girl can sang! Now I'm gonna go start a thread concerning female singers!

Roger and Zapp's was to me the worst version. It always reminded me of summer BBQ's with a bunch of winos....

I see Marvin is winning hands down. I would have thought that Gladys would have gotten more votes. Hmmmmmmm. Interesting.

Fantasia

I like the Marvin gaye version. However, I think Gladys executed it better. She brought the attitude that I think the lyrics needed. Marvin's version was a bit mellow for what the song was about.
