Hugh Freeze is gone.....Poor Ole Piss

You heard it here first.......Jay Hopson will be the next coach of Ole Miss. His father has "influence" in the state and they are both alums with strong ties to the university. The Ole Miss' football program is in disarray and is "damaged goods" for high profile coaches. Hopson is a safe choice during these trying times. I work with many Alum and active alumnae. He won't be their first pick, but he is safe on three fronts: alumni support, family oriented, and has shown an aptitude for coaching and success.

First of all this is wonderful news for me. I wish nothing but nothing for Ole Piss.

And this is Hopson's dream job. And once those penalities are handed down they may go to him because no high profile coach will be touching them for a couple of years.

And the fact that he had a holier than thou attitude as well. Oh well Hopson win CUSA this year and he might have his dream job.

If USM has any type of QB play, they will run away with CUSA. They completely shut down a high powered offense in LaTech and then won their Bowl game against ULL

Hopson may get his shot, cards seem to be falling his way.

What big name coach is going to them knowing they might get the hammer put on them?

Les Miles if the money is right. He doesn't have a coaching job. Ole Piss pays good money and I seriously doubt the NCAA hammers them so bad they can't recover. I don't trust the NCAA to do nothing right. Now if I was in the NCAA, they would get the death penalty and not have to worry about hiring a head coach. LOL.

That would be a bad move for Les Miles. He can't recruit the same level of talent there. That's the only reason he was able to compete in the SEC West. Talent. Superior talent on the offensive and defensive lines. Defensive talent overall.

A Les Miles offense at umiss ... with less overall team talent ... gets slaughtered.

You need a high-powered offense at places like umiss and MSU to even be competitive.

Actually Ms has enough talent to be competitive. The problem is the talent gets split between Ole Piss and State and even USM somewhat. Les Miles would be okay there as long as he didn't have bad sanctions holding him back. Maybe Chip Kelly would be a good fit there since folks called him racist in the NFL. He would fit right in there. LOL.

Former Auburn, Texas Tech, Cincinnati and Ole Miss coach Tommy Tuberville comments. Remember that Tuberville spent one-year at Ole Miss before going to Auburn. Ole Miss fans booed him on his return to Oxford the next season.

.....

Former Ole Miss coach Tommy Tuberville, now an ESPN analyst, called for the Rebels to "wipe out the entire administration" and start over.

"Obviously people knew what was going on. Just get back to being Ole Miss and clean the slate, and get people in there that want to get the job done the right way," Tuberville said on ESPN Radio's "Freddie and Fitz" show.

"It's just a sad day for them, it really is, because people in that state really want to win games and want to be competitive at Ole Miss. They've done a great job to this point, and now they've had a terrible setback."

.....

Nuke the whole place.

Sure, Mississippi has enough talent to be competitive if they only had one major school. But, they don't have one major school. They have three major schools, a whole bunch of minor schools, junior colleges ... as I said, Les Miles couldn't get LSU level talent to Oxford.

This discussion might be pointless because I don't believe a major coach that has options wants to go there. Doubt we see Les Miles, Chip Kelly, or anybody like that there. I saw somebody mention Bob Stoops. lol These folks are delusional.
When the dust settles and Ole Miss takes a hard look in the mirror, Jay Hopson will be the most logical choice. His contract buyout is "peanuts" for Ole Miss. The reality of their situation will set in after a few more kids rescinding their commitments.

You mean them getting rid of Colonel Reb and bringing in a Black Bear wasn't good enough for ya! Come on man. At least they are trying!

Lol. Just kidding.

LOL. As long as they refer to themselves as Ole Miss meaning Ole Mississippi. They aint trying. They should be wanting to be called the Univ of Mississippi at all times. And get rid of the Rebels name totally.

I saw somewhere that Les Miles is flying down today. Between his Louisiana recruiting ties,Les will already have the Miss JUCO game in his pocket. Les Miles knows enough about winning football games to keep Ole Miss in the 8+ wins column. I think he would build a pretty solid staff at Ole Miss as well.

I knew they would call Les and he would listen their money folks at some point. He wants to get back at LSU. Look for him to also keep an eye on how Brett B does at Arkansas this year as well. Texas A&M with Sumlin. Some Aggie alums want a good defense to return to College Station. I think Les name will be in play at a lot of places if he waits. But Ole Piss might be willing to give him some real good money and promise him the job before any of the other possible openings who may see him as over the hill and since he didn't win the big games at LSU at the end. They may see him incapable of leading their programs to a title. Those jobs will have more competition for the HC if they pop open after the season than Ole Miss who are facing sanctions. So if Les really wants to get back in the SEC or any power conference. He may have to take a job that others do not want. LOL. If I was him, at 60 something years old, I would just settle into doing TV. I am sure he will be entertaining doing that.
