Keith Gamble led Alabama State (1-5) with 23 points, including 5-9 from 3-point range, while Campbell scored 21 and Alvin Pettway added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hornets, who had lost two one-point games, wre in control most of the game, leading 34-27 at halftime and 56-46 with 9:12 left. Georgia State rally led to a 3-pointer by Leroy Davis, which cut the lead to 63-62. Lamont McIntosh had a chance to win it for the Panthers with two foul shots with 42.9 seconds left. Congradulations Honets!!!!

Last night, the HORNETS made their annual visit to Atl.

It was an absolutely outstanding performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ga State has won their conference the last 3 years in a row.

But ASU took it to them from the start. Even though the refs tried their best to give GSU the game. :smh:
They were actually in the double bonus with 10 minutes left in the game and ASU didn't even get to shoot a one and one until OT.

But the OT period was all ASU!!!!!!!! Even though the crowd was small, the ASU fans took over the arena!!! :emlaugh::emlaugh:

Coach Spivery is playing a lot of young guys too. And just like always, the defense is tight as a glove. Look for ASU to be real competitive in the SWAC.

A GREAT WIN FOR ASU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winless Hornets sting Panthers

Georgia State had the misfortune of being kicked by a team that was down Thursday night.

Facing previously winless Alabama State at GSU Sports Arena, the Panthers lost 82-77 in overtime. It was the first nonconference home loss for the Panthers (3-2) since losing to Kansas State on Dec. 29, 1999, and the third overall home loss in the past 33 games.

The Hornets (1-5) won by outrebounding the Panthers and getting double-digit scoring from four players. Guard Malcolm Campbell led the SWAC team in scoring with 28 points, including going 9-for-9 from the free throw line in the final one minute, 26 seconds of overtime.

The Panthers, who trailed by 10 with 9:18 remaining in regulation play, rallied to cut the deficit to 63-62 on a 3-pointer by Leroy Davis with less than two minutes remaining. Lamont McIntosh had a chance to win it with two foul shots with 43 seconds, but missed the first and made the second to tie the game for Georgia State, which was led in scoring by Nate Williams with 25 points. McIntosh and Davis added 21 and 16, respectively.

Alabama State scored on every one of its overtime possessions.

"They've played some good teams, and they were not intimidated by us," said Georgia State coach Lefty Driesell after his team had dropped to 3-2. "They ran their offense better than we did, and they kicked our butts on the boards."

The Panthers were outrebounded 37-33 by the Hornets, who also got double-digit scoring from guard Keith Gamble (23), and forwards Alvin Pettway (17) and Xavier Oliver (12). Pettway also snatched 11 rebounds.

"For us to play as well as we did against a team like Georgia State should help boost our confidence," Hornets coach Rob Spivey said. "But we were better than an 0-5 team. We've played all our games on the road."

Look FACBMAC, just take the congrads and leave it at that. I would have came to the game, but my wife had a previous engagement.

Congrats to ASU!!! It would have been nice to see Lefty's face.

But it would have been nicer if that was the University of Georgia as oppose to Georgia State.
