HOUSTON, TX. - Friday through Sunday, April 26-28, Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits will team-up with the Prairie View A&M University athletic department as one of the historically black colleges and universities in the area to participate in the "University Special". The 34 participating locations include stores in the Waller and Houston area.
For $6.99 plus tax, consumers can get 10 mixed pieces of Popeyes' famous spicy or mild chicken. One dollar from each 10-piece box purchased at the participating locations will be donated to the university.
Through the purchase of a university special this weekend at participating restaurants, an individual can help many worthy students fulfill their dream of attending college. Those participating Popeyes restaurants will be identified with large blue "University Special" signs on the store window.
According to Charles McClelland, PV Athletics Director, all proceeds from this venture will go to the Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund.
"It's great to have the assistance of Popeyes in our efforts to turn the athletics program around at Prairie View," said McClelland. "We hope that this will be the beginning of a long-term relationship that can be mutually-beneficial for both Popeyes and the university."
Popeyes is a leader in the cajun segment of the food service industry and is the world's second-largest quick-service concept.
