Heading To The Boot!

I will be heading to the Boot this week to attend one of my outlaws graduation Friday morning on Scott's Bluff. Will this constitute a special-event, thus changing the hotel rates in Baton Rouge? Also, were should I park on campus? Are there any good after-hour places to eat?

Hotel rates will not go up for this event. You should be able to park at the Mini Dome, provided you are not late. You will be able to find good food. We have great food in Red Stick!

I'll be down there too, luckily I can stay at my frat bros krib. But as far as hotel rates go they'll be the same. You may want to get there early to get a decent parking spot and seat. And bring an umbrella or something to keep the sun off of you. Graduation is outside this semester in Mumford stadium.

I'm headed to the boot also...but I'll be in a much better part of the state....LOL

BTW, a little birdy told me something about an Ark-La-Miss freaknik going on in Ruston this weekend? Does anyone know about that?

Thanks! CD and NUPE_6

I know what the invitation said is the start time, but time should I try to be on campus in order to get good parking spot and a decent seat.

Plow,

Where are you staying in BR? I'll be glad to give you a run down on some good eating places.

Well seeing that we got my frat bro Johnnie Cocharan speaking this semester, you may want to get there at least an hour to an hour and a half early to get out of traffic and get a decent parking spot and seat. The traffic coming over the hump could get ugly. If it's anything like when Mandela spoke in Spring 2000, it's going to be hectic. Oh, yeah, bring some cold water....it just might be steaming hot that day!

Plow,

You are downtown at Argosy Casino so you can basically eat down at the buffet. It is always good. If that's not to your liking, I'd suggest you try some of the places in the Citiplace/College Drive area. Hooters, Damon's, On The Border, Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, Semolina's, Poet's, Sullivan's and Blue Fish Grill just to name a few. You can't go wrong with TJ Ribs on Acadian at I-10.

Since graduation is outside in Mumford, dress light. We have not had rain in BR in 4 weeks and none is on the way. the temp will be in the low 90's and NO shade.

I don't think umbrellas are allowed in the stadium during graduation. I was there when Mandela spoke and I can't remember anyone having an umbrella.

Hey Plow, if you walk in a place and you see the servers with atleast two gold teeth, the place is ok and the food is good.

Remember when we checked into Holiday Inn for the SU/AAMU GAME.

Remember to use the hotel bathrooms before you head to Mumford. I'm sure those portapotties will be riper than a july watermelon!

When Mandela was the speaker they passed out water for all. No need to bring your own.
