My grandmother (RIP) was a fan. I remember playing the Get Down On the Floor joint on her stereo system every time I visited her.

So sorry to hear this. He was always one of my favorites. Very distinctive voice. He was one of the few rhythm and blues singers that was born in the 1930s that was still alive. Sam Cooke(1931), Joe Simon (1936), Joe Tex (1935), Johnnie Taylor (1934), Bill Withers (1938), just to name a few, have all passed on. RIP.

Clarence Carter (1936) and Jerry Butler (1939) are still alive. I am sure there are a few others.
