Ex-Grambling State great Ralph Garr won a batting title with the Atlanta Braves in the 1970s and he still gives the team a honest day's work evaluating talent for the franchise.

Ralph Garr, who has scouted games at Louisiana Tech, Grambling State and Louisiana-Monroe, looks for speed and arm strength in pro prospects.The same pair of eyes that made Ralph Garr a .306 lifetime hitter in the big leagues has kept him in the game long past his last at-bat.

The former Grambling State baseball great makes his living these days as a scout for the Atlanta Braves - a team he won the National League batting title with in 1974.

"I've been really blessed," said Garr, whose son is a scout with the Baltimore Orioles. "We've been baseball fed most of our lives. I thank God for the Atlanta Braves. They've been a wonderful organization. Baseball is a great game and there are lot of wonderful people in baseball.".....
