No injuries....that's the BEST news of all!!!

Hopefully it wasn't arson. I'd hate to think that someone would be lowdown enough to endanger the lives of those students...but hey, there are some hella-lowdown folks in this world!

Watching the news this morning a student stated that two people were escorted away by officials. It wasn't know then if they were suspects or witnesses though. Just glad no one was hurt during this ordeal.

JSU dorm fire ruled arson; 2 freshmen arrested, names released

The Clarion-Ledger

Two Jackson State University students have been arrested in the early morning dormitory fire on campus, and the blaze has been ruled an arson, officials said.

Charged with arson are Marlon Jackson, an 18-year-old freshman from Flora, and Dwight Lindsey, a 19-year-old freshman from Harperville, according to JSU. They have been transported to the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond.

?These students are on interim suspension and charged with arson, fire setting, damage to property, and dangerous threatenings,? said Marcus Chanay, dean of students. ?Final action will take place after an investigation has been completed.?

Under university policy, as outlined in the student handbook, both students could face possible expulsion.

About 630 students evacuated Alexander East Hall, a male dormitory, after the fire was reported around 3:45 a.m.
