All the single ladies in DFW, and he want to drive almost 300 miles for some cakes and cookies.

The most, I would drive was over to Atlanta. But, I was in my twenties.

What I will say is everything about the internet isn't bad when you're trying to make a hookup. However, one cannot be naive about what is really out there. 1) You have folks that are really doing bad and will try to game you out of what they can get 2) Prostitutes-the oldest profession is online too. If a date cost you money upfront, it's not a date dummy. 3) Career Criminals-guys acting like women to rob, women setting folks up to get robbed, and basic thieves. I'm sure there are other areas I didn't cover but more often than not they'll fit one of the three descriptions. The best advice I can give anyone is to handle your "due diligence," take your time (don't let anyone rush you into doing jack), and don't be thirsty.....LOL

Yep, a real bad area. You have to know that area and keep your head on swivel. Gang infested, drugs, prostitution and jackers are synonymous with that area.

So much goes on there that it is possible his murder and planned hook-up might not be related. It is possible he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and became a victim of the random senseless violence that happens around there.

Sad, in a number of ways.

You are saying that South Main "was" the place? It is not like that now is it? I thought they had cleaned South Main up.

I can remember when I moved to Houston in 1975. LOL!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!! South Main was off the chain. 🤣

In the 80s when those old motor hotels were rotting away it was the hot spot by far. Growing up Main was the route we took into Downtown and those old motels started around Willowbend and kept on going until you left town. Chief Inn, Rode Inn, etc. When it dried up prostitutes moved in.

They bulldozed alot of them for townhomes, apartments and other businesses but its popping back up in another form. They've built 3-4 "Diamond Inn or Tweety Inn" motels on the south side of 610 within the past 5 years

Good memory,...those motels were strung along main all the way to Braes Bayou.

Recall, the Republican convention came to the Dome in the 1984 which caused the city leaders to all of a sudden care about all that riff-raff on main street. Main street began to change for the better at that point.

I worked at the Municipal Courts, and HPD would arrest the prostitutes for "hitchhiking". South Main, back in the day, was a cash cow for the City of Houston. I mean, HPD would arrest those "hitchhikers", they would post bond and didn't come back for their court date. Well, if you didn't show up for your court date, you forfeit that bond money. That was just free cheese for the City of Houston. But anyway, back to the topic........

A guy who comes in the barbershop told us he was in Birmingham one time and went to go meet this chick he met on backpage. He said that when he got to the spot to hit her some dude was there. He said luckily he had his pistol on him. He said dude asked him who he was and he replied a ninja who don't mind pulling this trigger on this pistol. He said dude backed down and he still smashed the chick and got the hell headed..... Getting some snatch ain't that serious.

I was getting ready to post that when I saw Centre Drive. when meeting a person you have never met before, you may want to learn about the area. Yes, that is known as the Bissonnette Stretch. On a nice weekend night, It's like a Hooker conference. It's nothing to see 25 - 50 women walking about a 2 mile loop. The Centre is on the return Loop. Don't ask me how I know. LOL.

Right by the park and ride - I used to like that area and will still go from time to time

I used to live on Club Creek Dr. which is the street that runs along side of what used to be Westwood Mall. When I moved over there, that area was brand new and really nice. I moved from that area in 1979 and it was still nice. Now, lord have mercy. SMH!!!
