Educational Program in Texas Bringing Students Closer to Aviation

“In one session (the students) learn everything about the coordination and language of the airport control towers, in another they operate a plane in a flight simulator and also receive training to be able to administer an airport in any part of the world,” said Drabik in an interview with Efe.

“Not only are they taught to plan a flight to any place in the world but also to modify the structure of the flights depending on the situation in which they find themselves, like rationing fuel and food in emergencies,” she added.

To carry out its educational tasks, AirSpace.Orb is receiving backing from the U.S. Defense Department to meet its expenses and from the campus of Houston’s Texas Southern University, where the flight simulations are conducted.

In addition, the teaching personnel come from the most important aviation companies and training centers in the sector and include scientists from NASA and private airlines.

Students also receive tutoring and advising services from university students at the TSU departments of Science and Mathematics.

AirSpace.Orb is the only program of its kind in Texas.
