In light of the tragedy at Alcorn State, the issue of campus safety should be re-addressed. When I was on the yard, true we had to deal with the surrounding "hood" coming on the yard, but I was confronted with the need to arm myself from fellow students. It wasn't as bad as things are now but we couldn't really count on the "Camps" when needed (I even spent plenty of time doing dirt on campus and eluding them). Currently I know there have been steps taken on each campus be it an HBCU or other institution to make things safer. And by experience some campuses are not in a very "user-friendly" hood. If stringent safety precautions are being taken in other areas, campus security should be a priority so another future is not lost.
