The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning approved changes in the leadership at Alcorn State University at its meeting held today in Jackson. Dr. Ontario S. Wooden, who currently serves as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, will begin serving as Interim President of Alcorn State University immediately.

Dr. Wooden replaces Dr. Felecia Nave who served as the 20th President of Alcorn State University since 2019. Trustee Tom Duff, President of the Board of Trustees said, "The Board wishes Dr. Nave well as she pursues new opportunities."

Dr. Wooden began his tenure as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2020. In this role, he oversees effective delivery of academic and student support services across the campus which includes management and oversight of all academic schools, the registrar, research and graduate studies, 1890 Research/Extension, Library, Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment/Accreditation.

"We appreciate Dr. Wooden's willingness to take on the role of interim president," said Trustee Duff. "He has a keen understanding of the challenges in higher education and we are confident he is well-prepared to lead Alcorn State University at this time."

Executive session meeting minutes show that the Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees “terminated” Felecia Nave as president of Alcorn State University — a modicum of information but more clarification than the board has provided in other instances of presidential turnover this year.

The board initially refused to say if it had fired Nave or let her resign, but per executive session meeting minutes released Thursday, the unanimous decision on April 20 was to terminate Nave “for the board’s convenience, effectively immediately.”

Just two days earlier, Nave — the first Black woman to lead Alcorn State, the oldest public historically Black university in Mississippi — interviewed as a semi-finalist for the chancellor position at Louisiana State University, Shreveport.

Nave did not get the position.

Former Alcorn State President Felecia Nave was terminated, IHL minutes show

Ah Ha. So she was out there trying to get out of The Corn, and the Board found out and decided, just leave anyway. LOL. good decision board, instead of getting surprised.

The IHL is intentionally sabotaging HBCUs. They keep firing HBCU presidents or they'll hire HBCU presidents against the advisement of the alumni groups of the institutions.

White supremacy is white supremacying. Black people need to declare a violent war in Mississippi to gain respect in the state until then they will keep getting messed over
