Earlier in the year, someone posted an article about a Black Louisiana man who had received a life sentence for stealing a pair of grass shears. I could not locate the original thread thus this new one. The man's sentence had come under Louisiana's Habitual Offender Law due to the arrest being defendant's 4th such arrest for similar offenses. On yesterday, the Louisiana Parole Board allowed the 63 year old to walk free after having served 23 years of his life sentence. He started serving his sentence in 1997.
