The song My Hump, what is the sample they are using? It is driving me nutts trying to figure that one out. Does anyone use original beat and music anymore?

Jelli,

Black Eyed Peas are one of the few acts that actually use actual instrumentation (of course they don't it it nearly as much as they did on their first 2 cds). :smh:


I don't believe that this song has an actual sample in it...but it DOES sound reminiscent of "Push It" by Salt N Pepa...at least with the same "voice" on the keyboard and a slightly similar "breathing" beat in it...


The ROOTS still use original music and real instrumentation...with a sample scattered here and there. :nod:

I recognized that hook but can't think of the song they took it from, it was something from the 80's I beleive.
 
I don't know if that's a sample or not, but the song "I Need A Freak" was by a group called Sexual Harrassment, and it came out in the early to mid 80's.

She has helped them COMMERCIALLY (and IS something nice to look at :D)....


...but as far as musically and the trueness of Hip Hop (by my criteria), they have fallen waaaaaaaay off!

IMHO, Their first cd is definitely their BEST one, even if it wasn't the most commercially successful.

I can honestly say that they have steadily declined with each of their 4 releases...:smh:

You are so right about that. For awhile they along with J5, and blackalicious were the best of unknowns on the hip-hop scene.

Yeah that is the background sound but not the hook... that is from some other song..
