Joy deGruy told us that for white folk to rationalize enslaving and treating Black folk the way the did/do, cognizant dissonance had to set in and you do that by convincing yourself Black folk are animals with no language or culture and you are saving them from themselves. Many of them still think they have to save us. What is truly sad is that many Black folk buy into that narrative.

The key about this piece is that it shows that Blacks were civilized before they were captured and trafficked to America. The lie they like to perpetuate is that blacks were savages before the great white hope came along to civilize, and Christianize.

Yes, and a lot of American Blacks adopt these falsehoods unfortunately. The construct of race has a long history filled with falsehoods.

I don't understand why people choose to believe the foolishness when we know damn well their were advanced societies well before America was conceptualized.
