Barty is playing great tennis, I hope Collins can win. If I was betting, I would put my money on Barty, but I am pulling for Collins.

What the hell is wrong with the American men? No American man has won a slam since Andy Roddick won the U.S. Open in 2003. I thought at one time that Donald Young would be in the mix, but he crashed and burned. Oh well.......

Stefanos Tsitsipas, is a good player, but it appears he cant win the big ones without illegal coaching from his dad during the match. The coaching was so bad during his quarterfinal match, that they put 2 officials in front of his dad during the Medvedev match, one spoke Greek, to stop him from coaching. Even with that, he got one coaching violation. He is too dependent on his dad (coach) in matches, he has to learn how to adjust in game without the help of his dad.

American men's tennis has sucked for a while, the men did not follow Agassi, Sampras etc...... The women found their way following Venus and Serena. Sebastian Korda (son of Petr Korda) I am hoping he can bring some excitement back, but its hard following in the footsteps of a famous dad.

American top men (not necessarily in order)

Taylor Fritz - highest ranking player, there was high hope, but he got married young and lost some of his tennis focus, he is trying to focus now. Maybe top 20 is the best he can do.

John Isner - past his prime.

Reilly Opelka (for those from Alabama, I call him Opelika) - Has top 20 potential

Frances Tiafoe - top 30 potential

Tommy Paul - top 40 potential

Mackenzie McDonald - under review, he has had some decent runs at the majors, I dont think he has the power to reach top 20.

Steve Johnson - past his prime

Sam Querrey - past his prime.

My two cents.

Analysis: How Barty won the final

https://ausopen.com/articles/features/analysis-how-barty-won-final

The serve was on song
Barty's serve had been nigh on indomitable throughout the fortnight, having been broken just once against Amanda Anisimova in the fourth round.

With so much on the line, Saturday night was bound to be a little different and, while she was broken twice in the second set, the top seed was exceptionally accurate when she needed to be.

While not as ruthlessly dominant as she had been through her previous six rounds, Barty dropped just seven of her 38 first-serve points (82 per cent) while Collins claimed 25 of her 40 (63 per cent).

The Australian's first-serve speed was averaging 169km/h – 6km/h more than Collins – but it was the variety and placement which kept the American guessing that proved the difference. The ace count finished 10-1 in favour of Barty.

Backhand less knifed, more variety
Collins said ahead of the pair's fifth showdown she expected Barty to rely heavily on her slice backhand.

The top seed was looking to break up Collins' fast-striking rhythm with greater variety off the single-handed shot, smartly redirecting rallies and sapping the American of the pace with which she loved.
