Our overall low attendance is something we should be concerned about, not smacked over. At least not here on the SportsBoard.
I personally think the move to each school playing each other is an attempt by our administrators to address this very issue. Our traveling fan bases are growing and the league wants to take advantage of that.
I'm sure it hurt Valley's attendance numbers when SU and GSU no longer went to Itta Bena to play. SU travels well, especially when winning. Like anyone else, it drops off some when the record is not good or to the fans liking. GSU travels well to select games...the opponent has a lot to do with our fan interest in traveling. However, the name recognition draws the local fans to the game either because of the legacy or in hopes of beating GSU.
