Andy Stoglin, a former Jackson State men’s basketball coach, died Monday, his daughter, Stephanie Stoglin said Tuesday.

Stoglin, 81, died at his home in Memphis, his daughter said.

Stoglin coached at Jackson State for 14 seasons (1989-2003) and led the Tigers to two NCAA Tournament appearances, one trip to the NIT and three regular-season Southwestern Athletic Conference titles and three SWAC tournament championships. He was SWAC coach of the year three times (1991, 1993 and 1996). He also coached for two seasons at Southern (1982-84)

His record of 229-242 was not how he measured success; he did that in treating people right.

So sorry to hear this. I got to know him very well when we both worked at ASU Mid-South. I enjoyed picking his brain on SWAC sports and everything else.

Much respect to his legacy and his work. Speaking peace and comfort to his family and others close to him.
