Over the past couple of years, Crawford has made significant donations to the University through the Rosa Belle Crawford scholarship, which was named for his mother, and by paying the balances owed by more than 30 seniors who were able to march in the Spring 2017 Commencement.

Now, Crawford has added another layer to his giving matrix by issuing a challenge to match donations made to the University between Aug. 22 and Sept. 2, up to $100,000.

“This is not about bringing attention to me,” said Crawford. “This challenge is about showing our love for and support of Alabama State University. This University changed my life and helped to set me on a course to become a successful businessman. It has been my dream to be a blessing to ASU financially and in other ways. I am so thankful to be in a position to do that. I know that there are others out there who feel the same way that I do, and I am hoping that they will respond to this challenge.”
