AAMU vs Jackson State 2022 and 2024 Gulf Coast Classic in Mobile.

That’s even worse! Giving up a possible 50k plus home field advantage without travel expenses to play in old Ladd Field that holds max of 40k does not make sense to me.
What? AAMU vs JSU ain't never drew 50k in Jackson - not even for their homecoming! This is a good move for JSU, because their getting a guaranteed $450K, and get to recruit the Mobile area that is a HOTBED of football talent. AAMU fans would rather travel to Mobile than Jackson any day of the week. They're not familiar with Jackson or know it for anything special. Whenever they come to Mobile they know they'll have a good time, because they have family & friends that live there, can drive to casinos in Biloxi, party downtown, and get some good seafood.

And the city of Mobile has put money into this Challenge unlike the Gulf Coast Classic that ASU used to play in every year. There are events planned all around this game (concerts, cabarets, parades, tailgating, etc.

Plus, I'm sure they're tired of us winning in Louis Crews West.

Why though...Gulf Coast had to be my least favorite classic. Aint shit to do in Mobile.
That's why I've been hesitant on going this year. 😂 When my crew went we had fun because it was us. This time they aren't going so I'm on the fence if I want to ride down by myself.

Bama State and Southern stopped playing in the Gulf Coast Classic because the promoters didn’t pay what they promised.

Our travel expenses going to Jackson or Mobile would be about the same, so going to Mobile won't cost us any extra expenses. It benefits us because it provides our Mobile alumni with a chance to see a game without traveling all the way to Huntsville.

This may be the only way to get A&M fans to travel to a JSU (or any out of State) "home" game since apparently they don't or maybe aren't allowed to cross their State line! Just a thought.

Mace,

Now you do know that AAMU brought the SWAC's best defense to the home of Thee Mighty JSU twice during the spring. Fortunately, we had a great time during both visits. Especially, that last game. Were you there for the last game? If not, you can watch it on Youtube.

This is not the same classic. This is not even the same promoter/organizer. The promoter is an SU alum who played in the band, and is from Mobile. The 1st Gulf Coast Challenge in 2018 was between AAMU and SU. He fell in love with what A&M brought to the game and saw that they represented really well vs. SU's fans. He wanted to bring both schools back in 2019, but SU refused to give up their home game, and AAMU ended up playing D2 Central State that year. This year we play Tuskegee. The promoter picks the opponents. A&M is becoming a mainstay for this game, but it's not our classic.

AAMU, why are y'all giving up a prime (no pun intended) game opponent for a neutral site game?
This is an interesting move for Jackson State b/c they are sacrificing a pair of home games against Alabama A&M in 2022 & 2024 to play in Mobile.

Also, this moves means that Jackson State will play 3-neutral site games in 2022:
- Orange Blossom Classic (vs FAMU in Miami)
- Southern Heritage Classic (vs Tenn State in Memphis)
- Gulf Coast Challenge (vs AAMU in Mobile, AL)
