Just 0.1%??? Is there a reason why the growth rate has slowed down??? Has those new dorms opened yet???

We need more dorms

It appears that a lot HBCUs don't have future housing plans in case of a substantial enrollment increase. After a school's enrollment hit a certain threshold, such as 80% to 85% housing capacity, the administration should immediately start thinking about building new dorm facilities. Too many HBCUs wait until the last minute before anything is done.

We have not been approved funding for a new dorm yet. We have renderings, etc... but no state funding. We have built new dorms and remodeled all of our old dorms pretty much all within the last 10 years.. We have to finish paying off some of that debt before building something new. Not sure how long that will take.

Also, the biggest problem last year is that one of our dorms was being renovated.

Why is the enrollment so low at all of the schools in Mississippi? Even for the PWI's. Is it the past history of Mississippi?

Maryland has like 3 times the population of MS so you'd probably need to compare it to a state of similar size.

Mississippi doesn't have a particular university system like some states...just individual universities. Some MS universities may have campuses in several locations around state.

MS actually has too many Universities. These are just the public ones. Folks forget about all the small private ones like Milsaps, Belhaven, Tougaloo, Mississippi College etc. So it's all split up across all these schools. LA has too many as well. Only difference is LSU is the big dog and everyone else is next level.

And guess which schools will be targeted for closure. Gots to be careful with this.
