More and more details are emerging regarding the circumstances surrounding tackle Jonathan Martin’s departure from the Dolphins. And the situation demonstrates how mean and unrelenting an NFL locker room can be.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Martin’s exit came after “persistent bullying and teasing†from some of his teammates.

Per Marvez, Martin has taken a personal leave of absence to spend time with his family.

The situation came to a head this week, but Martin previously had “tried dealing with a slew of indignities that crossed into personal and family insults.†Marvez writes that the Dolphins knew that “cruel actions†of some teammates “went well beyond the customary hazing.â€

@JasonLaCanfora: Dolphins have informed Richie Incognito he is suspended indefinitely for his treatment of teammate Jonathan Martin.

@nfldraftscout: Garafolo: "Multiple sources told me Martin's camp informed Dolphins and NFLPA that Incognito sent threatening and racially charged texts"

Tell Gram to send Martin some of their muscle milk.

It's deeper than that I believe. Racial slurs being texted and such. I think those cats think dude is Gay or something like that.
Martin may have had a legitimate reason to fear for his safety.

Gram players just quit. LOL. No fear of their safety. Well maybe like GR said, they were scared of Mighty JSU hurting them.

Sad Story.......

A mofo stick me with a $30,000 dinner tab, I'm going postal. They saying there are rookies, (league minimum, etc players), on the Miami Dolphins team that has literally gone broke already from giving up money and paying for dinners for veterans.

That's really disgusting.

Now it is being reported that info handed over to the NFL and Players Union say these mofos had the rookies paying for their strippers also at parties and you know the ones they hired didn't come cheap. :smh:

Report: Miami rookies 'ATMs' for vets
The Jonathan Martin story continues to unfold, even as the Miami Dolphins offensive lineman remains away from the team. On Sunday night, FOX NFL Insider Mike Garafolo reported that Martin, who left the team last week for personal reasons, told the NFL Players Association and team officials that teammate Richie Incognito sent Martin text messages and left him voicemails that were both threatening and racially charged in nature. Shortly thereafter, the Dolphins suspended Incognito.

But while the situation with Martin, a 2012 second-round pick, is the most high-profile to come out of Dolphins camp as it pertains to problems between young players and veterans, it is not the only one.

According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, some Dolphins players are essentially being held hostage by veterans, who have been using the younger guys as "ATMs" to benefit their lavish Miami lifestyles. Beasley reported that one player has even "gone broke" because of the veterans constantly taking advantage of him.

One such instance was when the rookies were stuck with a $30,000 bill during a recent team dinner. Veteran defensive end Jared Odrick tweeted about the incident, showing off a picture of the team at dinner and even following it up by noting how expensive the bill was

They were pimping them mofos and Martin got tired of it. His Stanford education kicked in and said I ain't going broke for these sorry mofos. LOL.

. Martin is 6'5", over 300 pounds. How do you pimp him? or even better, how does he allow himself to get pimped?
yeah, yeah, I know about rookie hazing and all that, but sounds like Martin needed to grow a pair

The said thing was Martin was not even a rookie anymore. He was a 2012 pick. He should have been in on the pimping by now. LOL. I would have whooped Incognito arse or I would have hired some mofos with my money to take his knees out or something. I wouldn't took that isht from that mofo. He would have been getting terrorized by me all the damn time.

Oh he is soft. No doubt. Come from a high end family. So he don't know how to be mean. But as Ditka said, he should have kicked Incognito's arse. Then the rest of them OL would have been like damn, you got knocked the fugg out. Martin wasn't even a rookie this season. So I wouldn't have given them a damn dime and would have been in Incognito's face. I would have whooped his arse on Monday and then on Tuesday for GP and if the coaches got pissed, I would have whooped their arse too.

damn, that makes it even worse.
:smh:

That is what everything started with. That is why he got fed up this year with that crap and walked out.

Martin reported that this has been going on since his rookie season last year and it has never stopped. He said for some reason, the veterans just kept it going against him this year. He said this year, everytime he would come in for team meals and sit down, everyone at the table would get up and leave or pull some kind of prank crap on him daily.

Don't think he was soft.
I seriously think he was probably one of the few that told them last year to kiss his azz when they kept asking him for money going out to eat as a group, knowing the veterans was going to stick the rookies with a high tab. That is the only reason I can think of as to why the veterans were still messing with him.\

Miami Dolphins suspends player INDEFINITELY for tormenting teammate who abruptly left club because of hazing

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Dolphins suspended guard Richie Incognito late Sunday for misconduct related to the treatment of teammate Jonathan Martin, who abruptly left the team a week ago to receive help for emotional issues.

"We believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another," the Dolphins said in a statement released shortly before midnight, "and as a result we believe this decision is in the best interest of the organization at this time. ... We will continue to work with the league on this matter."

The move capped a bizarre day for the Dolphins, even though their players were off. First the team released a statement saying Martin had not complained to the organization about bullying by other players. Hours later, the Dolphins said they and the NFL were investigating allegations of misconduct made Sunday by representatives of Martin.

Incognito posted several tweets saying he wants his name cleared after reports linked him to the Martin matter. Then came the announcement of his suspension.

That "stuck with the tab" bit is one of the oldest rookie hazing tricks in the book. I remember when Roy Williams left Dez Bryant a $50,000 tab his rookie season.

Slurs in Incognito's messages
Transcripts of voice mail messages and text messages left for the Miami Dolphins' Jonathan Martin by teammate Richie Incognito indicate a pattern of racial epithets and profane language.

Multiple sources confirmed to ESPN that the following is a transcript of a voice message Incognito left for Martin in April 2013, a year after Martin was drafted:

"Hey, wassup, you half n----- piece of s---. I saw you on Twitter, you been training 10 weeks. [I want to] s--- in your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your f---ing mouth. [I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter]. F--- you, you're still a rookie. I'll kill you."

Sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that officials from both the NFL and the Dolphins have heard the tape and have copies of the message.

Sources familiar with the tapes say these are terms Incognito used over time and were not isolated incidents, including the use of the racial epithet multiple times.

If you won't walk out on your job in the same situation then don't make excuses for him. He should have stood up to them.

If this kinda thing happens at your job and your employer doesn't take steps to stop it, you should walk out. Workplace harassment - at any workplace - is real and serious.
