King's Three RBI Helps @BamaStateBB Hold On To Beat Jackson State​



ACKSON, Miss. – Much like Friday's victory, the Alabama State University Hornets jumped out to a big lead in the early innings but this time had to hold on for a 9-7 win, clinching the series versus Jackson State at Braddy Field on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hornets scored four runs in the top of the second inning highlighted by a three-run homer from Randy Flores, which followed a run-scoring single by Jamal George.
  • After JSU dented the scoreboard on a pair of wild pitches in the second, .ASU got a Corey King single to center, scoring Jack Hay and Ian Matos.
  • Jackson State added a run to its total in the fourth but Alabama State answered in the sixth with two runs, the first on a double off the bat of Kyler McIntosh, followed by King's run scoring single.
  • The Hornets final run came in the seventh on Trenton Jamison's double to score Sloan.
  • Jackson State scored twice in the bottom half of the seventh but was shut out in the final two frames.

The Jackson State baseball team lost to Alabama State 9-2 Friday in game one of the three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Braddy Field.

The Tigers (13-6 overall, 1-3) scored both runs in the seventh inning with two outs. Cesar Saavedra reached on a two-out error and scored on a Daniel Bannon double down the right-field line. Jatavis Melton then singled through the right side, scoring Bannon as JSU cut the deficit to 4-2, but could get no closer.

Bannon went 4-for-5 to lead the Tigers' offensive attack. White and Marcus Atterberry each had two hits for Jackson State, which returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m.
 

BamaStateBB Sweeps Series From Jackson State​


ACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State University scored four unanswered runs to earn a 6-3 win and a series sweep of Jackson State University at JSU's Braddy Field on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marshal Luiz's RBI single highlighted a two-run first inning that gaveJackson State a 2-0 lead.
  • Randy Flores walked and moved to third on an error after stealing second base. Flores then scored on a Trent Jamison ground out to cut JSU's lead to 2-1.
  • Jayden Sloan tied the game 2-2 with a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning.
  • Jackson State got an RBI single from Myles White to put the Tigers ahead 3-2 heading to the seventh inning.
  • Alabama State answered two runs in the top of the seventh to take its first lead, 4-3. Jayden Sloan singled and scored on a Flores single and an Ian Matos infield single scored Jamal George.
  • The Hornets tact on two more runs in the eighth to build a 6-3 lead. Sloan had an RBI double to score Cristian Lopez and a Jamison single scored Sloan.
