J-Stank y'all gonna re-up or nah?

We need some real SWAC competition anyway...

I say mix it up and get these schools on a rotating basis...

We done beat the JSU Beengals into submission...

I guess that would make the SWAC the field folk then; because they keep begging for us to join...

Field folk always tried to run and leave the oppressor. House folk were weak....when the master got sick they said, "Massa how we doing." When the Massa lost money the house folk said..."Massa we not right on money."

In short Tennessee State is this house folk

No shade, serious question, (I know you don't speak for the university) does Tenn State really enjoy being in the OVC?

Well, we (UAPB) actually did have a 2-year agreement deal set with you guys (Tennessee State) for a home-and-home deal 2012 & 2013. We lost (badly) to TN State in 2012.

But in 2013, Tennessee State backed out on their end and reneged. I don’t know if the effort went forth, but I know UAPB intended to pursue compensation from TN State. 4 years later (2016, TN State was on our schedule again (we lost 0-44).

It's tough because you have that faction of alum and fans who want out of the OVC yesterday...

I just don't see TNSU leaving the OVC anytime soon...

I see the pros & cons of being in the OVC...

  • travel
  • conference basketball ranking (It's a bball conference anyway)
  • revenue redistribution
  • pwi's never bring much of a crowd or band
  • ovc refs (officiating) are notorious for screwing tsu
  • the token black (school)

I think PB is a good coach away from really competing in the SWAC...

I know the TNSU bandheads love the band battle aspect of playing PB.

  • travel - pro
  • conference basketball ranking (It's a bball conference anyway) - pro
  • revenue redistribution - pro
  • pwi's never bring much of a crowd or band - con
  • ovc refs (officiating) are notorious for screwing tsu - con
  • the token black (school) con
I see the revenue distribution component as the only genuine reason to stay.

In the first link of your post, it was stated in the radio broadcast interview (in 2014) that Tennessee State talked with then-commissioner (SWAC) Sharp (in 2010) about joining us. TSU made no decision at that time to join due to them having an interim President/Chancellor and preferred to re-visit the idea again once a permanent President/Chancellor was in place.

The 2nd link is the actual 2010 article referenced in 2014. It mentions the invite to TSU but does not mention them declining the SWAC offer. The article mentions that a SWAC insider stated the SWAC was not interested in being a 12-member team.
