IHL approves to suspend some degree programs at 3 colleges

JSU was thriving under Dr. Carolyn Meyers. Dr. Meyers demise was, she put the students first.
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) -- Some of the degrees at three Mississippi colleges are being suspended.

According to Caron Blanton, Director of Communications for the Institutions of Higher Learning, the board approved the suspensions at the April Meeting.

The Board Book lists that these schools requested to suspend the following programs:

  • Jackson State University:
    • Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology due to low enrollment and failure to meet the standard for productivity.
    • Bachelor of Science in Education in Mathematics Education due to low enrollment and failure to meet the standard for productivity.
    • Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies due to low enrollment and failure to meet the standard for productivity.
    • Bachelor of Arts in Political Science due to insufficient graduation rates.
    • Master of Science in Teaching in Science and Mathematics due to low enrollment and failure to meet the standard for productivity.
    • Master of Science in Environmental Sciences due to low enrollment
    • Master of Science in Secondary Education due to low enrollment.
    • Education Specialist in Reading due to low enrollment.

    Mississippi Valley State University
    • Master of Science in Special Education to restructure the program in order eliminate unnecessary curricula redundancies.

+1 Every full-time first-time JSU freshman got an iPad. Two hotels and an apartment complex were leased to assure every student had a room. The Sonic Boom budget increased. Meyers was great for JSU, but the IHL didn't want JSU to prosper under Meyers leadership.
WELL PUT, Glad im not the only one not blind to the fact that Myers was taking jsu to heights not visioned by the IHL..
