Several former Iowa football players are speaking out about the negative experiences they and other black players had while in the program, with some criticism being directed at longtime strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle.

Former Iowa offensive lineman James Daniels, now with the Chicago Bears, tweeted Friday night, "There are too many racial disparities in the Iowa football program. Black players have been treated unfairly for far too long."

Long overdue ... most of these black big time athletes hate the culture of their PWIs but tolerate it because this helps them in reaching their goal of being a professional football player.

How can you voluntarily work at the plantation and then complain that Massa is not good to you.

Since they decided to go there, they do have the right to fight for change. If some of these "old azz" people in corporate America had more fight in them, these racist running roughshod with institutional discrimination at the very least, the behavior would be mitigated. And that's the way I feel about that! LOL (just don't get confused with your fight at PWI with putting down HBCU(s) because both serve a purpose).

who held a gun to their heads and made them sign? You can get drafted anywhere. Surely they know wha they signed up for

That is true BUT when was the last time a player from an HBCU was drafted in the first round in any sport? Football is way more open to drafting from HBCUs than basketball.

Also tv time-what are the ratings for PV vs Jackson State versus Iowa vs Colorado? How many HBCU games got a broadcast versus some of the PWI?

I know folks want to say fight at these places but this is NOT how you do it. You do it by NOT going to these schools. Hurt those schools in the pocket book. Let some recruits say they are not going to Iowa because of a racist culture and Iowa starts losing or is an after thought in recruiting or left off tv schedules as a result.

Because when that happens it doesn't stop at the jocks-it spreads to top smart kids not going either.

Those alum and donors are going to demand change. Iowa can not afford to be CRAP in the Big 10. Too many good schools in that area that will steal kids in a second.

You make some good points! But we keep going expecting things to different!

Ratings and talent go hand in hand. Simple as that. Steve McNair lived on ESPN2 - made it popular.

Dominique Rodgers Cromartie was taken in the first round by Arizona in 2008. And before that Rickie Weeks was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the MLB draft in 2003.
