I want the NCAA to give all of them the death penalty. Just ban ALL their sports and kick them out the NCAA.

NCAA grants JSU full waiver from academic penalties
Jackson State University has received good news from the organization that had threatened to level harsh penalties against the school's football program.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association has agreed to waive, for now, penalties the team faced for poor academic performance, according to documents obtained by The Clarion-Ledger.
Without the waiver, JSU likely would have been banned from post-season participation this fall and faced other punishment, including the loss of scholarships and even expulsion from Division I, the NCAA's highest classification for athletics. JSU's football program is in trouble because it has routinely fallen below the NCAA's benchmark score of 900 for Academic Progress Rate (APR)...

The funny thing about that is, even if that happens JSU still will find a way not to win a title.
Someone give me this guy's number.

Dude, this is OLD news. We took our medicine and now we're healed. Now it's time for you and the others to take yours to catch up to us.
From the SU's catalog, Civil Engineering consist of 135 hours along with two Mechanical Engineering courses as the program's core courses, which doesn't include the labs not shown in the curriculum, but is required. The NCAA should know that for any Engineering program to be ABET accredited, it would take a normal student taking the normal classload per semester at least five years to complete. If you noticed, all of the non-banned schools don't have full engineering program which means, they don't have a School of Engineering with all three engineering programs (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical). It makes it easy for them to meet APR requirements when most of their programs are true 4-year programs instead of 5 or 6 year programs disguised as 4-year programs.

This is NOT true. Half of ya'll don't understand APR. What difference does it make if a program is 4 years, 5 years or 6 years? The NCAA only looks at credit hours. I am sure that at SU a sophomore has to have 30 hours, a Jr has to have 60 hours and a senoir has to have 90 hours.. just like at ANY accredited university. The NCAA is only looking at those hours. It's not like the kids are playing 5 and 6 years. And IF an athlete agrees to play sports and chooses to major in engineering, they need to know how many hours to carry.
..and your excuse is that JSU does not have Mechanical Engineering so our APR is better?
I guess Im missing something.

"Is that all YOU can think about? This is the reason you all are in the situation you all are in. Worried about those meaningless conference titles while your kids are suffering in the classrooms, on the fields, and in life."
This is just pitiful.....and for the swac to continue to flip flop and change their rules every year to meet whatever agenda they are trying to meet, they are really getting on my nerves. Are academics no longer a priority right now?
How many times you gone say this? You're still banned.

NEWSFLASH and POP33 done told yall. It ain't in collegiate sports. Folks are just managing APR because they have too. If it had not come down. Then your school like many others would be still doing what they always have done. Whether it is a PWC or HBCU. But it has always been about wins and now the money aspect has taken over college sports. Hell we about to get left even farther behind when the Power 5 conferences leave the NCAA for their own deal as they are planning. Folks arguing over what the SWAC is doing. Nobody cares what we do or what any of these NON MONEY conferences do. That includes all FCS conferences and lower tier FBS conferences. The NCAA don't care either. They are catering to the HAVE's. UCONN won the National Title after being banned in basketball the year before. That should tell you something right there. They righted their ship (we assume) and didn't even lose players to transfer and kept it moving. Sanctions had little to no impact on them.
The same amount of time you keep posting the dumb idiotic isht you do on a daily basis. SMH.
uum, JR, that's always the case with APR. The bottomline is that if YOUR school dropped the ball.. they dropped the ball. When our kids were penalized in 2011, we were not having retention problems. Our problems were from 2006 and 2008 and the fact that OUR compliance office sucked back then. We never even applied for waivers, etc... Nor did we try to see if kids who transferred were in school elsewhere. They just wrote the kids off. Meyers and company had to come in an locate the kids so we could get our points back.
Bottomline.. YOUR school messed up. Deal with it.![]()
Dude, didn't we say that? Didn't we say the old regime dropped the ball? All I am saying nobody can clown our current student-athletes.
Dang JR, you don't have to go Callaway-ish on me.:smh: Take that misplaced anger and aim it at the NCAA and the penalties they're about to levy on su.
We are "clowning" your institution. No sense in wasting keystrokes trying to explain how this apr fiasco does not reflect the work of your current student athletes.....we tried that in 2011, and the un-written rule is still going strong. IT DOES NOT MATTER, WE GON GET THESE JOKES IN. We wasted threads/posts trying to explain to folks how our scores reflected things that happened in 2008, NOT 2011 and got laughed off of the sports board. Sorry bro
I am not angry. We will be eligible for every SWAC title. Ain't like we are going to the FCS playoffs. I also don't think the NCAA is going to levy WHAT YOU GUYS hope for. They got enough issues to worry about. You death penalty a black college and all hell is going to break lose. If they didn't death penalty Crooked Coles who intentionally cheated and then impose worse sanctions on a school who got rid of the folks who did the damage. Then I will march on Indianapolis myself. No worries. The big boys going to deal with the NCAA soon enough. What I don't get is the gloating you cats from JSU are doing. We were banned right along with yall. If anything this is double jeopardy for SU. We ain't repeating anything. They are not happy with with what LaFluer and his folks showed them and we did nothing about it until they came back and said they were not under further review. Nothing Broussard or SU can do. You can't make up stuff. I wish I had T Boone Pickens money or I would be suing the NCAA for this dumb stuff. The proof that SU is got together rests with the current regime and students. Those are the records they need to be looking at to see if they are being completed correctly. Not some isht from back in the last ADs administration and 2 Chancellors ago.
That's like them saying hey USC, we are going to penalize you again for the stuff Reggie Bush did because we found out he got even more money than we thought.
In the grand scheme of things. It don't make a difference anyway. Those kids who didn't handle up are doing whatever just like the kids yall had who didn't do anything in school. You can only worry about the current kids. Past is past. Pete is gone, the AD is gone, and both Chancellors during that time frame are gone. Even the System President is gone.
I see you have poor understanding, so I'll post what I have already posted again in bold.
I hope you do understand what I meant by the word "DISGUISED".
A simple change in parameters by re-classifying 4-year programs to their true 5 or 6 year program classification when reporting to the NCAA would raise any school's APR. Also, I'm sure there are other simple little things a university can do to raise its athletic program APR, but one have to thoroughly understand the NCAA guidelines on reporting APR.
