Young kids today are so weak. man we had it real bad back in the 80's and early 90's, but no one would have quit like this. Weak, spoiled kids.

My co-worker redishirted in Switzer's last year at University of Oklahoma and played 4 years for the next coach said they had players boycott and quit the team before a bowl game because practice was too tough. He said it was national news.

I haven't read all these post in the multiple threads...What are they quitting for?

I cannot believe this foolishness. Did we all take a dysfunction pill at the same time? Players this is very self-destructive behavior. I do feel for both the Grambling legacy and JSU homecoming situation. I just can't imagine the frustration of those people, but honestly I can't fault the players either, nobody properly tended their frustrations either. I really hate what's transpiring right now.

But Smith and other players say inexperience is not the primary reason for the team’s struggles. They say an erosion of support for the program has made it difficult for players to succeed. They lack adequate weight training equipment, they say, and the staff and materials to treat injuries properly. They don’t even have enough supplements to replenish their bodies after workouts. “We got some Muscle Milk donated but we have to give it to certain people, like who needs it this week and who doesn’t, kinda ration it,” Smith says.

“We knew what we were getting ourselves into when we came to Grambling. We new we weren’t going to have all this and that, the best stuff. We knew we weren’t going to LSU,” Amphy says. “But it could be better, even just a little bit better. Because it is not like we don’t have the athletes to compete, not like we aren’t trying to the best of our ability.”

Yeah, because it's JSU's homecoming, right?

It could be anybody's homecoming. This will bring more negativity not just to the players, but to the entire school no matter who it is they're playing.
Clip all the damn schollies and start over somewhere else and see how they'll feel once they realize that they threw away a free education over something that could be resolved amicably.

If kids are willing to lose their scholarships for something they believe in, that is not necessarily a bad thing. This might be the beginning of a national player uprising.

This ain't nowhere near no player uprising, unless it has to do with paying the players cash money.
These guys KNEW they weren't going to win another game and bailed out beforehand.
Take all their schollies and cut all ties.

http://www.knoe.com/story/23728453/...otball-athletics-funding#.UmGD9FD_9EY.twitter The team is slated to leave at 2:30 in the afternoon in preparation for a Saturday game with Jackson State. A GSU player says all of the players are in agreement to not board the bus and the players are returning to their dorms or homes for the weekend. He said they are making other plans and do not intend to play the scheduled game.

If I was the administration, if they didn't get on the bus, i understand that, you may be going home, but you damn sure wouldn't be going back to the dorm.

The players have the support of all the students, who also expressed their displeasure with the administration.

one thing alot of yall say is how different the kids are these days but aren't their parents part of yalls peer group....

what was really going on in the late 80s and early mid 90s when yall was raising these kids?

We would have to start another thread. . .

We would have to go from the school system to ESPN’s “Play of the dayâ€￾ to cover everything.

Why would you kick a student out of school for not participating in an athletic contest?

Dude, students ain't running nothing. Students didn't give them their schollies either. Most students are immature and don't realize the repercussions either.

Lol..don't blame them kids...old ways I tell you...smh...Them suckas on these boards will bring down a lemonade stand to hold office or keep a their pride

Because he violated his contract and placed the school in a negative light. Hell, if they had won a few games, maybe somebody would've listened but they trying to stand without doing jack for the school.

Dude, stop cooning for once...them kids have every right to do what they are doing..sometimes you have to stop chasing the carrot that's in front of you

bruh, that is crazy. He violated a contract for an athletic scholarship. He should lose that. However, someone's admission into a school is not dependent upon them playing a sport. College student protest things all the time. Football is not special. Kick them off the team? Sure. Kicking them out of school would be smallminded.

Where is the GSU Alumni? What does the Alumni think about all of this? Why hasn't the the Alumni stepped in to at least cool tempers?

Cooning for who igga? For Black folks? They have every right to be sent home too. Let 'em quit on their school, fans and administration. Hell, why don't you suit up and at least win ONE game, then talk.

This will definitely affect Grambling all the way around, as well as our conference. So, is it just the Missouri Classic and the Circle City Classic that the players are complaining about? Have they been missing meals the entire season? Have they not had enough supplements to take the entire season? Hmmmm.... Regardless of the team's performance, they should remember that they are at Grambling to receive an education via scholarship to play football. A contract has been signed. And I think they should be treated like the real world. If you choose to not operate within the terms of the contract or forfeit it's obligations altogether, then the contract is now void. Scholarships should be revoked and cash money should be paid if they wanna finish the semester and get credit for it to transfer out. Just a spoiled, entitled generation if you ask me.

Oh, so performance on the field determine whether or not the school addresses issues within the program?

From what I have been reading...alumni need to give money and stop talking. There has been enough talking, time for action.

Is it small-minded when players quit on their fans, alumni and administration? Seems like they've made their case, but it also seems like they don't have a leg to stand on when they haven't won a damn game in two years.
