Presidential Debate #1

Another thing is you folks have to admit, this is the sorriest election, debates , moderated and everything involved in the history of the USA. I honestly think we are headed for a Libertarian or real Independent to take office in 2016.

NAH! 95% of voters have already made up their minds about this election. It will be determined by who turns out and vote. The debate did not change anybody vote. Spinners are spinning. That's what they do. Fact check will soak in with the truth and the cosmetics will wear off by the next debate. Romney came in with low expectations and my being aggressive it gives the appearance that he won on points. All this was expected. Obama was steady and sensible. That's his strength and attraction.

I hope so.

This may be a "moral" victory for Romney but I believe that the President handed Romney a rope and allowed him to hang himself. He flip flopped on so much that Obama's campaign team will have material for weeks.

I concur.

That is the point of debates.

I strongly agree with your comments.........Mitt gave a great sermon........but many missed his message........He lied on several occasions.....He back tracked on his owned proposed policies..........If you watched the commercials in the future, you will see how the Democratic party will put those lies/contradictions on blast.

Cee,
no one went into depth. No one said anything new. I am not voting for Romney but I think he was a better communicator tonight. The only thing I do remember really were his trade answers.

I agree but you know we've seen this movie before. Come the next debate it'll get more dicey and personal.

If all anyone have to hang their hat on is their candidate won the first debate, its pretty damn sad.

Obama was lost without a teleprompter, Obama should have let Hillary Clinton debate for him, Hillary would have torn Romney up! Too many and's and uh's for Obama. They should send that moderator back to the Nursing Home, it was way past his bed time.

The problem is "if any one has been listening" Obaba's prep team, gave his some bad advice. He was advised not to be too aggressive and remain calm. What they should have told him is to knock Mitt out in the first round. Obama had him on the ropes ,at that point Mitt should have been out for the count.

Next debate, watch the new and improved Obama.

Who won, neither, both put me to sleep.

Could anyone who keeps saying Romney blew this debate out tell me what he said that was such a game changer? Maybe I missed what he said that was so great?

If Romney said put them spooks back in the field, the massa clique would have been tap dancing for him.

Romney was clearly better prepared. He cited more sources and had a much better delivery. Obama appeared unprepared and weak lastnight with way too many re-hashed lines from his stump speech. I cringed when he basically repeated Clinton's "arithmetic" line during the debate. There were stark contrasts that he could've drawn against Romney; particularly the auto bailout stance. Romney framed Obama's clean energy investments as a waste and Obama did nothing to convince the American public that it was an investment for the future or how it would impact the future. We'll see how the polls re-act,but it wasn't a good night for the president at all.

Romney spoke as if he was reading from a research paper, too scripted, it was like he had paid someone to write the research paper for him. I wasn't impressed with neither.

Romney won, but his arrogance will be the nail in his coffin. He's basically saying you folks that support Obama won't vote anyway so you don't matter. For him to be arrogant enough to tell the moderator "oh yeah if I'm elected I'm cutting you and Big Bird too!" damn that's arrogant :smh:

I know I have said this before, but Pres. Obama relies too heavily on a teleprompter when he delivers his messages, people saw first hand what the lack of one does for him. His mannerisms, his constantly looking down and not looking people in the eye, his ummm's and ahhhhh's. He was flat. He spoke haltingly. His body language was terrible. He looked like he wanted to be anyplace but there.

I guess four years of having "softball" type questions handed to you by a liberal friendly media will make you complacent. This president is just not used to tough questions from the media compared to previous presidents. Despite what some have said about "truth and lies" being the substance, BOTH of them lied or skewed the truth last night. This first debate was about who could show the people who the "Alpha male" was on stage......it wasn't the President. Romney basically Debo'd Pres. Obama last night and took his bike.

I was wondering how many people Romney pissed-off by his "I will cut PBS" comment. Both Rep and Dems watch PBS.

Kerry knocked Bush plum out, but we all see how that turned out. Oh wait, most of you never followed politics until now.

True! It's funny a lot of my republican friends talk about how bad President Obama is doing now, but four years ago that didn't care too much about politics.

I was like what is he saying. But, here is he catch, those that work for PBS will still vote for him.

I think this all a set up for Romney to see how he'd perform...the POTUS is going to light in on him in the next debate.

Romney separated himself from the tea party. We will see how that makes or breaks him.

Yep! Actually they have not been for him all the time. Notice you don't see any of them actively supporting him. Kind of lukewarm support.

Romney won based on delivery. He looked much more poised and comfortable. His robot persona helped him. That, and the fact that debates cannot be fact-checked on stage.
