When players report for the start of fall camp on Aug. 1, Jackson State football coach Rick Comegy will have a simple message for them.

It's time to toughen up.

The Tigers will begin preparations for the 2012 season in earnest in 22 days. When they do, Comegy will hold what he expects to be the most physical camp of his tenure.
"I have let them know that," Comegy said. "This is going to be one that they're not going to forget.

I've heard about his camps while he was at Tuskegee. The kids are in for a blast.

Fugg Skegee, you should have been there in 2006 when he cut 40 people. I can honestly say that was the most contact I ever went through in a spring camp. At the end of practice, he would line up Scholarship and non-scholarship players for Oklahoma drill and the winner would keep the scholly.

Dayum....

They need it bad.
Especially that "mental" part about the 4th qtr. They catch brain farts in the 4th because of the lack of mental toughness.

Damn... so that was the only determining factor?

I highly doubt it to be honest but that was what we were told at the time. You could get a chance to redeem yourself though. We did it almost every other day. However, the fear of being cut was real so it worked.

Man say what yall want, but Comegy wins for a reason. Players react to his killer attitude. Gotta respect him for that. I love it. Football is physical, if you don't wanna get physical pick up a flute!!

How does this affect the APR?

Perhaps Doug Williams should hold a coaching clinic and invite Comegy. Doug has experience playing and coaching. He really has a wealth of knowledge that was also stimulated by Dean Pete Richardson.

As for Ingram specifically, Comegy raved over the 6-foot-1, 220-pounder's maturity. A walk-on at Ole Miss in 2010, he didn't play in either of the past two seasons and had a brush with the law in March 2011 when he was arrested for allegedly shoplifting.

Wow! Did not know that J. State gave second chances
