Indecent Proposal

I don't know about this one here. What I see here is a man trying to do right by his woman and his kids. If she sees these "warning signs", then why did she stick around for so many years? They were living together with his parents for a LONG time. Why did she stay if she had no intentions of marrying him?

And I can only wonder what she expected to happen after she rejected him. I'm sure she didn't expect him to run her down...AND I KNOW SHE DIDN'T EXPECT TO STAY AT HIS PARENTS' HOUSE WITH HIM after that rejection. So what was going through her head all those years leading up to this recent event?

1. Your guy probably suffered from PTSD.
2. The urgency is probably due the fact it is possible he could go on another tour of duty down the line. Additionally, being in war increases the likelihood of death or severe physical impairment.

It's easy to say X party was in wrong or in the right. Again, it was wrong for the guy to do what he did. However, I think one has to look at the different variables and aspects of a given situation to determine why it happened. I mean, there has to more the story than guy wants to kill his girl over a unsuccessful marriage proposal.
That crazy mofo suffered from jealousy & scared someone was going to take me from him...but heck no one had to take me, he pushed me away. I spoke with him a YEAR & A HALF after we had broken up & I'd long since moved on with my life...that dude was still talking the same BS he was talking when I broke up with him, still jealous & bitter. MOVE THE HELL ON DUDE! SMH

But anywhoot, as I stated earlier...there are 3 sides to this story...we may never know all the details of what drove him to that point. But I just hope the female & her kids will be safe & he doesn't try to go after her or those kids whenever he is released.

On HIS time schedule. Marriage should have come into play a few kids and years back. She might have once wanted to marry him...but something I don't think guys understand: Women get tired of waiting for them to get it/her/get started on a life together. guys always thinking they have time to get around to the woman when they want them. But the reality is that folks don't/arent gonna wait forever anymore. Can you say anticlimatic? So, maybe she realized that today was the day to tell him cause whatever they could have been would now never be.

Yes indeed.

Perhaps, and it could have been a "better late than never situation". If she was so tired of waiting on him to propose to her, then why did she stay for so many years...only to turn him down when he finally proposed? What was she thinking? Why didn't she leave him if she was soo tired from waiting?

And whose time schedule is it really about?

Isn't the proposal usually on the man's time schedule anyway? He should have the right to ask for her hand in marriage whenever he is ready.

Also...Though it's not everyday we see a woman get down on one knee and propose to her boyfriend, at the same time, it's not unheard of. If she was THAT ready to get married (according to HER time schedule), nothing would have stopped her from asking him (not in this day and age). So why didn't she?

Shouldn't dude have gotten a bit more "marriage ready" a few kids and years back? How long to drink the milk free before the cow gets bought? What I know: When a woman gets tired---> NEXT!

But what has she moved on to? It doesn't seem as if she had another dude in waiting who was willing to bring her into his home. She stays in a shelter for battered women now. So, maybe she got tired of waiting. I'm sure she BEEN tired of waiting...so she should have BEEN moved on to whoever was "next"...right? So, again...WHY DID SHE STAY WITH HIM if she was so tired of waiting on him?

You always seem to be on point with your post!
I stated already that Pedro & Maria normally get married at age 16...so here they are with 2kids & she's 21. If he was in the military & it was of "urgency" as Kendrick stated...he should have married her BEFORE he was deployed.

Why are yall coming up with all kinds of lame excuses as to why she rejected the dude?

First excuse was "she probably saw the warning signs". She should have BEEN got her and those kids away from his crazy arse if that was the case. WHY SHE STICK AROUND?

Next excuse was "she got tired of waiting for him to propose". If she was so tired of waiting, she should have BEEN moved around. WHY DIDN'T SHE? For all we know, she NEVER had any intention of marrying him from the jump, and it wouldn't have mattered WHEN he asked her. Who's to say?

These excuses don't fly with me at all because she STILL stayed with the man and his family for ALL THOSE YEARS. She should have BEEN left.

Look at the typical victim southern woman story. Man I swear, you southern chicks are good at playing your role. Now yall see why brothers are going to the other side.

We (well, I ) DGAD. BYE! :wavey:  Ain't nothing like a lifted-up headache!

Why ya'll coming up with lame excuses as to why dude attempted to hit her with the car?

What excuses did we come up with? I failed to see anybody give a justifiable reason as to why he did that crazy mess. I must have missed something.

We don't know how long she & the kids were living with him & his parents...heck she could have JUST moved in with them due to unforseen circumstances. All the article stated was that they have 2 kids together, they've been together since she was 15yrs old, he's a ex military man, she was at work, he had some flowers to give her, a ring to go pick up from the store IF she said yes..NOW LET'S STOP RIGHT THERE...Dude didn't even have the ring on him when he proposed b/c he wasn't sure his damn self if she was going to say yes. He was going to go to the store & pick the ring up IF she accepted his proposal. Those are facts that are stated in the article...GO READ IT!

You sayed all that to make her the victim didn't you? :shame:

You're welcome for the spelling correction I just made.
But...Ahh hell Cee D....I'm not trying to make her the victim...dude made her the victim when he tried to play bumper cars with her body! I just stated the facts that were given in the article.

So typical and predictable. What does spelling a word got to do with yall playing the victim role? Man you southern chicks are to smart for yourselves. Oh well, at least yall can spell and read.

Unlike many men, women don't need to have a spare in waiting to move on to. All I do know is: When we tired, we're just that TIRED. And today was the day she wanted him to know. Y'all can make whomever you wish the victim. The bottom line is she wanted out, she let him know and he didn't take it well and acted out inappropriately. Now, he'll have time to think over his mistakes.

And for the record, I don't think dude was crazy. Maybe some post traumatic after he came back, but before probably not. He just wasn't expecting this news and SNAPPED! Women do it and seeing as how many men are taking on women's roles--> he snapped too...but really :noidea:
