Texas Southern vs Jackson State - Post Game Discussion


Post game thoughts:

Nelson is a horrible passer but very nifty with his feet.

JSU WRs are probably the best in the SWAC

Casey looked very average today

TSU's defense is very good.

Casey was sacked 5 times. His passing stats were very pedestrian. 18-41 256 yards and 1 INT. I been trying to tell folks that Mighty Casey hasn't faced anybody with some semblance of a defense, and when they did, all those "numbers" would come back to earth. That being said, TSU's offense couldn't get out of its own way in the 1st half, and despite playing lights out on defense, couldn't do ANYTHING on offense in the 1st half. But they DID run the ball 60 times for 295 yards.

Well I did get to the game just before halftime. LOL I won't call Casey overrated just yet, but he did have some trouble today.

I'm not gonna say he is overrated. That's a bit premature. But before calling him Superman, I want to see him do to GOOD defenses what he has done to BAD defenses. JSU didn't score an offensive TD until the game was dayum near over.

Would of had three if it wasn't for boneheaded plays! We had a touchdown right before half time called back to our TE Rollins, and then another touchdown to Mayes that he dropped when he fell to the ground, plus another touchdown by Mayes while he was heading to the endzone and got stripped from behind! :shame: Those were all plays that could have definitely changed teh outcome of this game! :nod: Oh well....
 
Casey had a very bad game against a VERY good TxSU defense...he was due for a bad game, i cant remember the last time a QB was lights out all season long, not to mention the numerous drops by our WR and TE...once again kudos to that TxSU D :tup:

The Mayes "drop" in the endzone was a well-defensed play. He was double covered and the defender had a hand on the ball. The fumble.... he was being tackled, so there as no guarantee that JSU would have scored there either.

TSU had the ball in JSU territory a couple times and didn't capitalize either due to big mistakes.

That play hurt but we lost the game in the first half when we couldn't capitalize of TXSO fumbles!
