Top 20 Flaws of JSU:

1.They think they are a factor! Not knowing that people go back and forth with them for amusement and we know we can drive their soft @sses!

Jackson State might be forced to drop some sports if the athletic department's financial situation does not improve, administrators say.

Offering 18 intercollegiate sports on a $6.5 million budget, the department is scraping to get through the 2008-09 fiscal year that ends June 30. If more money is not raised through donations and sponsorships, JSU might have to eliminate two or three sports, athletic director Bob Braddy said.

Braddy said the department needs to raise $500,000 by June to feel secure going into the 2009-10 school year.


About half of JSU's $6.5 million budget comes from student fees and general funds. Ticket sales and corporate sponsorships pay most of the rest, but both of those sources are down in the current economic climate. JSU season football ticket sales dropped from 5,500 in 2007 to 3,500 in 2008.

JSU is turning to alumni and fans to help offset the losses, creating the "Developing Champions" fundraising program. The goal is to raise a total of $3 million through a variety of options, ranging from a $500,000 endowment to $1,000 Tiger Fund memberships. The program is the first of its kind at JSU, but is common at larger universities.

"We have more athletic programs than we have the funds to operate," Mason said. "We believe there's enough support among our alumni, if they choose to provide it, to provide a steady source of additional revenue.

"It's not like we have a choice, it's something that we must do in order to survive," Braddy said. "(Dropping programs), it's very real. You can only put so much in the budget from the (general fund)."

We don't need to give JSU sh!t, it's not JSU's stadium the money goes to the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration - the government arm that controls the state-owned stadium. NOT JSU!

Maybe if I typed slower you'd understand that SU doesn't wanna deal directly with DFA. That's why the reports say JSU will pay the rent. SU's own insurance ain't gone cover y'all on this. So, if ya wanna be covered get that rent money to us.

SWACdecider.....i understand you wasn't here when all these threads about JSU not owning a stadium was coming up....and we even posted the bill that explained everything down to the tee....


So imma go head and tell you this....Whatever happens in Memorial Stadium...Jackson State University will ALWAYS get a cut....

The High School BOTB every year, we get a cut
Those pre-season NFL games, we get a cut
The High School Football Championship, we get a cut

yet, we don't pay for maintenance or the cleaning crews and other things....and truthfully, this is a better deal than some of you guys school owned stadium


Cuz you guys will be paying for this/that, while we just sit back and take that cut

So actually....JSU is acting as the middle man in this dealing between SU & the DFA....we are always gonna get that cut

All that you said JSU still has no stadium, they have to rent just like SU is renting it from the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration - the government arm that controls the state-owned stadium.

Dude, you're just going around in circles and ain't saying nothing. Show were JSU has to pay rent for it's HOME GAMES....not visitors, but HOME games.

If SU could've rented the stadium on it's own, why even involve JSU in the negotiations to begin with? As Frostnacho clearly stated, JSU is the "middle-man" in this deal.

Now again I repeat, just show it or shut the hell up cause all you're doing is making a fool of yourself.
