For the SWAC, it’s a signature event that almost didn’t happen.
But some determined administrators saw to it that the SWAC championship football game remained a reality.
The annual showdown between the champions of the Eastern and Western divisions took a historic step on Saturday when the game — for the first time — was played on the campus of a member institution.
Alcorn State hosted Southern in a contest that lived to the hype. The Braves won the game 37-28 to advance to the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta to face North Carolina A&T on Dec. 15.
Then there was the halftime show between the Alcorn State’s ‘Sounds of Dyn-o-mite’ and the ‘Human Jukebox’ of Southern.
There was no score to determine a winner, but we’ve provided a poll that may give some perspective. Which band won the halftime show, Southern or Alcorn State?
Watch the videos of both halftime shows and then cast your vote below.
Poll ends Tuesday (Dec. 4) at 11:59 p.m.
