PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M Lady Panther volleyball team recorded its first win over Grambling State since 2006 with an impressive three-game sweep (25-10, 25-18, 25-21) before a nationally televised audience of 2,100 fans on ESPNU at the William Nicks Building on Wednesday.
The Lady Panthers (3-13, 2-0 SWAC) set the tone early as they jumped out to an early lead and coasted towards a 25-10 win during the opener. In game two, both teams began evenly until the Prairie View tandem of Jasmine Houston and Latoya Taylor took over as they combined for eight kills en route to a 25-18 advantage. During the match finale, the Lady Panthers rode the backs of senior Sharonda Marshall and sophomore Breanna McNeil as they recorded four kills each to finish off Grambling State.
Houston led the Lady Panthers with 11 kills and five block assists while Marshall tallied nine kills and two assisted blocks. Erin Fondel finished with 37 assists on the evening while Jasmine Hales logged 12 digs.
Prairie View returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 28 with a home matchup against Houston Baptist at 7:00 p.m. in the William Nicks Building.
