Houston, TX –Texas Southern athletics director Charles McClelland announced today, that TSU has finalized its 2009 football schedule with the addition of Rutgers on October 3rd.
“Playing a team from the Big East provides great exposure for Texas Southern,” said McClelland.
The Tigers have four home games in 2009…Texas College, Southern, Alcorn (Homecoming) and Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
Texas Southern will kick off the season with the State Farm Labor Day Classic against Prairie View A&M on September 5th in Reliant Stadium.
Besides Rutgers, the Tigers’ non-conference road games include the University of Louisiana-Monroe and Texas State.
TSU will have at least one nationally televised game. They play Grambling State on Thursday, November 12 on ESPNU at 8:00 pm.
Our schedule reflects where we want to take our program,” said football head coach Johnnie Cole. “We are going to be a big time program with a big time schedule which lets our recruits know that they will have the opportunity to compete against the top football programs in the nation.”
