GSU Tigers & Hornets to meet on ESPNU …
• Grambling State and Alabama State will meet in a nationally televised contest on ESPNU Monday, January 5. The game is the second part of a women’men doubleheader in Montgomery. Start time for the game is 8:00 pm.
Overview: In the nightcap of a nationally-televised doubleheader, Grambling State – with preseason defensive player of the year
Jamal Breaux – will travel to Montgomery to take on the reigning
regular season champion Alabama State and 2008 conference
player of the year Andrew Hayles. While the non-conference
portion of the schedule has been tough for both teams, both teams
will be looking to play to their strengths. For Grambling State, the
frontcourt of Breaux and Andrew Prestley will be key for the Tigers;
the Hornets will look to Hayles and do-it-all guard Brandon Brooks
for success.
Last season: Alabama State won both contests against Grambling
State: 81-55 at Grambling (Jan. 5) and 73-61 in Montgomery (Mar.
6). Both teams found success from three-point range (ASU shot
40.6 % while GSU shot 40.9 %) while the Hornets held a slim edge
on the boards (37.5 to 37.0).
