Alcorn State, MS—After their first scrimmage on Saturday, Coach Jones made it clear what area he is most concerned about his wide receivers. Jones stated that “the wide receivers need to step up.†His enthusiasm for the defense was evident as well. “Defense is consistent. They have a lot of energy. The entire defense is playing hard, fast and full of confidence.†He also commented on quarterback Tony Hobson and secondary leaders Corey McLaurin and Rod Williams. Of Hobson, Jones boasts he is a “bonafide leader†and “takes credit whether the day is good or good or bad.†“He is putting the team on his shoulders.†“Corey and Rod are leading the secondary. Their level of play is high and they are holding players accountable. They bring it everyday.â€
