PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Allen Smith scored 25 points to lead Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 70-65 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday.  The Golden Lions (8-11, 6-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) scored 20 points from the free- throw line in the second half — compared with Alabama A&M’s 4 second-half points in free throws.  William Byrd chipped in 19 points for the Golden Lions, and Larry Williams came off the bench to add 18. Trant Simpson scored 27 points — and played all 40 minutes — to lead the Bulldogs (7-13, 4-6).

Alabama A&M tied the game at 51 with under four minutes to play, but the Bulldogs went cold after that, failing to score on six straight possessions.  LaNorris Smith added 12 points for the Bulldogs, and Evan Hilton had 11.
