Resources 2000 (R2K) is an historical research, planning and publishing firm devoted to the research, recovery and recording of Black history, specifically, in the area of
Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Black college athletics, and the history of towns and cities where Black colleges are located. The company was founded in 1980 as Whitted and Associates, and focused on
marketing and political research. The focus began to change in 1989, shortly after an altercation in a basketball game between North Carolina Central and North Carolina A & T. The project centered around
the number of prominent graduates from the two schools for a speech to a group in Virginia. From there, we extended the search to other HBCUs. This grew into our first book project in 1990, Black College Alumni American Role Models. The First 100 Years of Black College Football, the history of Black college basketball, researching and compiling
the records for Black college football, men's and women's basketball into the Black College Sports Encyclopedia. R2K has also established a
digital photo library. Since 1994, Resources 2000 has served as the official researchers for the HBCU Heritage Hall of Fame and Museum. As an information brokering and publishing firm, R2K
provides services to companies, institutions, media outlets, publishers and others with interests in the areas of Black history, Black college sports history, business and community development.
