Better yet, what's the greatest LB tandem in Steelers history??

Were Jack Lambert and Jack Ham any better than:

1. Greg Lloyd and Kevin Greene
2. Levon Kirkland and Jason Gildon
3. Clark Haggans and Joey Porter

That doesn't necessarily make these three players better....:smh:

They were on a better team who played better.

You sound like those 4 rings weren't achieved without the help of Bradshaw, Swann, Stallworth, Franco, etc on offense...not to mention the other defensive players!

There are a lot of players who got rings, and were STILL garbage!

Jack Tatum

"Whatever Happened to..." piece. Tatum was selected in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft out of Ohio State and played nine seasons for the Silver and Black (1971-1979) and is widely regarded as one of the hardest hitters and toughest players in NFL history.

Anyone remember Warren Wells (Texas Southern) - I remember Wells being cut at a club, stiched up Saturday Night and playing Sunday afternoon.

Lambert and Ham also are Hall of Famers to go along with the 4 rings. Those other Steeler LBs will probably not make the Hall. Not saying that they did it alone. But they sure helped put that Pittsburgh offense in good field position to score back then. Not to mention, it allowed Bradshaw to be a gunslinger and take chances. It is nice to know your defense has your back if you make a mistake. Those Steeler teams in the 70s probably were the most complete teams ever. Both sides of the ball could win the game for you with dominant play. Even the special teams were good.

Those were two of the nastiest hard hitting white boys on the field that I ever saw.

JR, I would have loved to see a dream game between those Steelers vs the Montana/Rice/Taylor/Craig/Lott 49ers. That 49ers offense was probably the greatest ever with a very solid defense. The Steelers were one of the greatest defenses with a very solid offense with a great offensive line lead by maybe the best center ever, Mike Webster.

Peace...
