LHSAA initial reclassification/redistricting plan

Mangham moved up. Also they could have placed D'Arbonne Woods in the district with us..that would have been a better geographic fit.

John Curtis moving up to 5A will make that Catholic League full of battles each week. Also, West St. John moved up to 2A so they could play schools that are closer to them. Would that be something that SU Lab may consider in the future? I have to imagine their travel expenses are through the roof.

Mangham refused to play Rayville, The last time they played Rayville routed Mangham with an average team, Mangham was a top rated team a the time. Rayv ille will control that district in every sport Boys and girls. The toughest opponent for Rayville aint in that district. Plus Rayyille got a powerhouse coming back and Rayville basketball is 27-1 and we speak. The girls just won the state championship 2 years ago and the best player wasn't even in highschool.

The Catholic League with Curtis just might now take the title of toughest district in the state.

Definitely, you have 4 teams in that district that have won state titles in football recently.

A few years ago, I would've said that Lafayette-area 4A district with Breaux Bridge, Teurlings Catholic, St. Martinville, St. Thomas More and a couple of others was the state's toughest district. But population shifts in Acadiana forced some 4As to move up to 5A and others down to 3A. Meanwhile, some 5As (ex. Westgate) moved down and some 3As (ex. Livonia) have moved up to 4A...

You have to look at the Oct. 1 hard counts to determine enrollments and classifications. How far is Lab from the cutoff of being a 2A school? Of by not much then it's conceivable Lab will be in 2A in a few couple of years when the next reclassification meetings take place.
