GREENSBORO — For the second year in a row, Lamar Raynard has been named the starting quarterback for N.C. A&T’s opening football game.
Raynard, a redshirt sophomore from High Point, will start for A&T against Division II St. Augustine’s at 6 p.m. Saturday at Aggie Stadium.
He won the job in competition with sophomore Kylil Carter and senior Oluwafemi Bamiro in practice this month.
“We’re in a position now, as a football program, where most positions on our team have had competitive guys battling it out for jobs,” A&T coach Rod Broadway said today. “And quarterback is one of them. Raynard’s understanding of our total offense is what gave him the nudge as far as being our starter.”
