"It's no secret I left Louisiana Tech because they wouldn't give me a five-year contract." - quote from Baylor's Women Coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson

Baylor put a pure A-whippin on Michigan State last night.

DID THEY!!!

Man, I did not think that the Lady Spartans would go out like that.

Michigan State has a Finals lost (womens) and a Men's semifinal's lost (men).
Been a Tough week for the kids in East Lansing.

She is a winner. Four straight high school championships at Hammond, two national titles at La Tech, and now one as a coach.

The Lady Techsters were once an omnipotent power. Now, they are at rock bottom. Their head coach left tradition-rich La Tech for Okie State.

don't forget olympic gold medalist.

Let's see.

4 straight high school championships
two national titles as a player
olympic gold medalist
Long time assistant coach at La Tech
and now national title as a coach

and La Tech wanted to offer her a 1 year contract. She turned them down and went to Baylor, who has NEVER been on the scene in women's college basketball and has turned them into a national champion. You can well believe that Texas girls are going to try to knock down her door to play for her now. Look out Texas Tech.

La Tech, you played yourself. :lmao: :lmao:

Baylor deserved some good press after all that crap they went through with Patrick Dennehy, Carlton Dotson, and Dave Bliss.

Congrats Lady Bears, and that Sophia Young is a beast!

This woman did not deserve a 5 year contract at La Tech. :smh: I'll bet they are willing to give here whatever she wants now.

The coach she took over for at Baylor was Sonja Hogg, her college coach at LA TECH. TECH PLAYED THEMSELVES ROYALLY!!!!

Politics maybe the reason she did not get hired! :smh:

LLEH naw!!! Dude this was a no brainer. La. Tech was in a situation like GSU with Eddie Robinson and Doug....the difference was...Kim Robertson coached under her former head coach. When she decided not to take the job, he came out of retirement and coached a few more years.

Sonja Hogg was a figure head (lol) at Tech. For years her involvement was to sit on the sidelines during games, call timeout (when Barmore told her to) and talk at the post game press conference. That was a wierd arrangement...she got the recognition and the win totals while her assistant Leon Barmore did all the coaching. Finally they made him co-head coach and shortly after that Sonja Hogg left.

They screwed up not hiring her...just like GSU should have never let Pat Bibbs leave. No knock on Rusty, but he's not Pat Bibbs!

Baylor is the better job, expecially since she is in a major conference, The Big 12.

Sad thing is that she is a LA Tech Alumnus!

The correct decision was made in the situation.

She is still a proud La Tech Alum. Notice that she wore a baby-blue suit for the finals. That suit was sent to her to wear to the finals by her La Tech friends.

Y'all just don't know how much of a legend she is out here in South Louisiana, especially back in her hometown of Tickfaw, a village just north of Hammond..

Her high school jersey was retired by Hammond High, a framed one is in the gym's lobby along with a photo of Kim from the 1984 games...there's a "Kim Mulkey Drive" in Tickfaw next to the middle school she attended...in fact, there's an old photo in the middle school's trophy case with Ronald Reagan on the bench chillin with her, Cheryl Miller and Theresa Edwards..There's a monument in her honor in front of Hammond's city hall...

I think she's STILL Louisiana's all-time high school scorer, regardless of gender. I know definitely she's the top girls scorer without the three-point line ...she still has the record for most points scored in the Sweet 16 (La. girls' hoops final four) in Class 3A (35 points in the 1980 semifinal against Caldwell)

GSU's Shrieka Evans holds the all-time record with a 55-point game in the 1999 Class C semis against Bienville
