My sons 12U baseball team won the 2006 IBC World Series Championship last week that was played in Clearwater, Fl.

I'm on the far right in the back row and my son is on the far right on the front row.
Due to injuries we were down to 9 players that made this trip.
The boys did a excellent job of playing baseball. We went 2-1 during pool play and ended up being seeded #3 going into tournament play. We then had 2 straight shutout games 10-0 and 6-0. We then are left having to play the only team that beat us in pool play in the last game of the winners bracket side. Our pitcher was very nervous and in the 1 2/3 innings he pitched, he walked 4 and hit 3 batsman and put us in a 3-0 hole. We then changed pitchers and our bats game to life and took a 6-3 lead. In the bottom of the 5th they get 2 runners on base with 2 outs and then a seeing eye single that gave them a 2 more runs (6-5). We couldn't score and went into the bottom of the 6th still up. They tied the game and with 2 outs and a man on 2nd base, their guy hit what was a foul ball up the 1st base line and the umpire really didn't see it and called it fair and they score the winning run. Our Head Coach (Charlie Hayes) goes wild on the umpire and he ask for help from the other Ump who was over by 2nd base and he says it went over the base but couldn't tell if it was in fair territory. GAME OVER......
We then go over into the losers bracket the next day and win that game 5-1. Now we get another rematch with the NYO Titans (Atl,Ga). In the 1st inning they get 1 run and from then on out we just bomb them with monster hits and it's 5-1 after 1 inning. 2nd inning we come back with 3 more runs, 8-1. In the 3rd inning we just unleashed the hounds and scored 6 more runs, it's now 14-1 and we're still batting with no outs. I'm thinking we are about to end this game in 3 inning by run rules (15 after 3). Our next 2 batters get the green light on both 3-0 counts and ground out and then the last guy flew out to center. Now all we have to do is hold them in the 4th and we will win by run rule (8 after 4). They get 2 guys on base and then we strike a guy out. Then a ground ball to 3rd, he steps on the bag and throws to first but the guy is safe. Next batter then pops up the ball in foul ground and the catcher, pitcher and 3rd baseman couldn't come up with it. Our pitcher then just throws heat and strikes the guy out and our guys started pileing on eachother in the infield. The parents are going wild and the coaches are smiling big. Our team ended up with 7 guys earning All Tournament Honors, my son was one of them.
Next up.... USSSA West World Championship next week and then on to Cooperstown in August.
